MORE RANDOM STUFF IN OUR LIVES

Things are still kicking along here. Nothing too exciting but nothing to complain about either.
My new bar job is going well, I also do 'Cocktail', which is a fancy term for 'Waitress'. I made $90 in tips on Saturday cause it was mad busy.
Its a weird thing, the service industry here. I get paid $4/hr, santa vaca, by my employer...and they rely on the customers to pay me the rest. No customers, 2 minutes noodles for dinner. I'm not sure what other business works like that.
In Australia, for the 3 months I worked for the Club, I was being paid $16/hr with no tips. I think the assured wage is better by far, even if it still isn't a huge amount.
But I may be moving on in a month or so to a job with a set wage. But we will see how that works out.

John Elden's grave. The poor 6 year old was shot in 1887 by a Muleskinner, who was being moved on and shot his gun without looking . Mt Elden is in the background. Also in the area is the cleared area where the Elden's lived and a small natural spring which is a nice place to rest while walking the dogs.

I went to volunteer last week at the animal shelter, and a truck driver brought in 13 puppies in two cardboard boxes that he found in a dumpster!!. They were two different litters, one about 8 weeks and the other about 6 weeks of age.
What the hell in wrong with some people?! Ok you don't want the pups and are too dumb to desex your dog, but why wait till the are weaned and leave them to starve. Hessian sack and river as soon as they are born. Horrible and a lot less horrible than chucking them into the bin later.
ARRGHHHHHH....
Anyway, we took them in, checked them over and I got to name them. 5 Aussie beers and 8 Aussie towns.
They are very cute and should have no problems in finding homes in a month or so when they have been vaccinated and spayed.
The new owners will probably change their names when they get adopted but until then we have-

Matilda (after Matilda Bay Brewery, plus its a good Aussie name)
Hahn
Fosters
Squire
Carlton

Gosford
Kiama
Sydney
Perth
Hobart
Kakadu
Albury
Cairns

The house is coming along well, I'm not a Construction Monkey anymore due to being a Bar Monkey. We popped in the other day and the second storey is mostly up. We have to start thinking about various options very soon.

Ours will be the one on the left.

AHHH STUFF...WHATEVA

Here is a Horny Lizard....
Because of 'O Brother Where Art Thou'
I will repeat ad nauseum 'Loved up and turned into a Horny Toad', till you beat me with a Gin and Tonic
Don't try and stop me.

Rob took this photo on Saturday while we were on a Mountain Bike ride. They are sooo cute. Flat and round with a grumpy face.

Other news... I started my new job at a new bar. Its good and they have a vague uniform. Even though I have a picture of my arse with the logo across it, I will only send via email...if ya keen.
I try not to give away to much info on where I work and live but any serious stalker wouldn't have a problem.
It a tricky concept these days, talking about what you do but not enough to get axe murdered. Though with a readership of 6 I'm not that worried.
It means I can't work on the house which is a shame because I was enjoying being a Construction Monkey. As Mike said tonite 'You are in demand,Cozalcoatl' ....so true, so true.

I've been offered two other jobs in the last week. One was another pub (which I denied but will remember) and the other (not a pub) won't be till a month or two, which is perfect. Lets me give this place a chance before i think of moving on.

Ohh and its all bollocks

RANDOM SATURDAY

This picture of mine was picked to be part of a online city guide called Schmap, so next time you need to look up Kings Cross there I'll be in all my photographic 3l33tn3ss.

Before I get on my patriotic high horse tell me Australia has far better Anti Discrimination Laws than this. Its legal in 33 States to fire someone due to their sexuality (from a story on Pandagon). I'm sure in happens in Oz but not so balantly. Ugghhh.

YouTube...a continuing font of time wasting classics.

Mum and Uncle Tom would quote a Monty Python sketch "The Four Yorkshiremen"
'Luxury' and 'Paper bag in middle of road' become catchcries. I found one of the originals. It from a show called "At Last The 1948 Show" which starred John Cleese, Graham Chapman, Tim Brooke Taylor and Marty Feldmen.

They say "Cardboard box in middle of road" but its been done many times and it will forever be 'paperbag' to me.

Here is Python doing it

Fry and Laurie's take on Aussie Soaps. Its a complete hoot.

One more then I'm done till next time.

Wild Bill Oddie and his mate Texan Tim

Worked till 1:30am at my new place. Got to listen to Karakoe for 4 hours while making Margaritas. Cause I'm still in training I don't get any tips, bah. But it was busy and I should go alright there. My accent still has power over the locals.

Finally getting some summer rain and thunderstorms. They call it 'The Monsoons', which to me conjures up tropical beaches and humidity not 7000ft desert country, but hey whatever floats the boat.

To finish off a picture of Darwin taken by Jamie while camping last weekend.

PUTTING THE FLAG INTO FLAGSTAFF

Stuff has been happening. All very exciting too. Rooolly and trooly.

Been doing a few days on the house, shoveling, lugging being all round monkey. Its coming along nicely and starting to look like a house. Have to take more photos.

On Saturday we went to the Hopi Festival of Arts and Culture at the Museum. Many Hopi artists displayed their works which were judged and awarded. To me it all looked wonderful. Beautiful things ranging from paintings, pottery, jewelery, basket weaving and wood work. A lot of it was for sale, most of it expensive but I bought a couple of small thing for presents. It was really interesting and next month is the Navajo Festival which I've chalked in.

I so wanted this Kachina Doll. Didn't dare ask the price.

Saturday night we went camping with Laura, Mike, kids and 2 dogs. We just went out of town a ways and found somewhere that looked good. Slept under the stars and Darwin was great. I thought we may have tie her up while we were asleep but we didn't bother and she was there in the morning, boingy and licky. I'm pretty happy about having a good camping dog, even if she does get car sick in the back of the ute....Big Doggy Joke.

I started my new job on Tuesday at a Restaurant/Sports Bar, which seems busy so I actually make some money. Plus its the best named place ever ;)

Flagged

Yesterday was America's Birthday. Knowing we would never get a carpark Downtown for the 4th July parade we cycled down. It only took about 20 minutes but with way more hills involved than when I drive.

Yay for US

We found a spot on the balcony of The Weatherford Hotel, a great old pub and hotel in Downtown. The parade started from the opposite way I thought it might so all my photos are at a weird angle and mostly from behind the floats....ohh well. It was my first 4th July parade watching and I wore my Remo Southern Cross Tshirt in support.
