THE HOGFATHER IS COMING...THE HOGFATHER IS NEAR.

Went Christmas shopping today. Wended my way through Newtown then into the city. Donated blood, my gift to any A- glassed backpackers.
Did the traditional Galaxy browse, so much stuff in epic 15 part 1627845893 pages tomes with wistful Dragons on the cover.
What made me happy was the discovery of the 2007 Hogfather calender. It turns out they have made a 2 part TV show which will be released in Britain at Christmas. WOOT!!

Not That I'm Losing Sleep Over It...

Why do all the Christmas decorations have to do with snow, in 30 degree heat?
Isn't it time we threw off the shackles of the Mother Country.

Work today consisted of standing around for 5 hours accompanied by all singing all dancing Polar Bear and Penguins.

*twitch*

Next year when I actually have a white Christmas its Beachballs, Boomers and the heady scent of Bushfires.

THE XPT HAS A DEVONSHIRE TEA SERVICE...

Which they accounced 20 minutes before I arrived in Bathurst. But luckly my dear sister made fresh ones for arvo tea.
I was planning of packing the car with treasures we can't bear to part with and store them at Fuschia's place and not think of it again for years. But car breaking down screwed that plan. I was a bit dispondent till I remembered public transport. Yay for public transport. Got to sleep and read all the way there and back.
A one night flying visit, wish I could have stayed longer. Got Mr Whippie, played Carcasonne, got whipped at 'Soul Calibre' on the PS2, mashing buttons only gets you so far against a wiley 8 year old. Watched 'The Third Man' Joseph Cotton and Orson Wells whooping it up in Vienna. Couple of Goodie episodes "Bunfight at the OK Tearoom" total classic.
Bits of " So You Think You Can Dance?" some reality tv thingy. American kids being told they can't dance by some old geezer in a really bad white jumper.
Once the kids went to bed, we watched a strange flick "Immortel" sci-fi French. Half real , half CGI, all kooky. The god Horus in a g-string is something they forgot to mention in any Stargate episodes. Amanda, any clue from your studies?
Snowpea offering's to me to live with them, is not making things easier.

TAIPEI STRATCHED

I had a ominious message from the Travel Agent the other night, to call her because 'Air China won't allow stop overs in Taipei'. I was thinking increased diplomatic tensions, high powered talkes, big nobs round tables wrangling for the future of my stopover. The reality was much more mudane and far more human. Money of course. The supersaver flight dosen't allow it, why? NFI!
But if I threw $500 more sheckles at our good comrades the problem just disappeared.
They never taught that in Year 12 Maths In Space.

I have tomorrow day and night off. Since my Friday and Saturday nights only exist for the pleasure of others these days I want to do something. I found the Newtown Festival is happening so that sounds like a win. Then maybe a nice dinner in the Rocks, a band or a ferry across the harbour. See how the mood strikes.
I also discovered The Mountain Goats are touring in January. I have become a big fan in the last few months.
The ONE & ONLY pfft date in Sydney is the 6th, which I'll be around for but its the same day as 12th Night which will be our last SCA event here for a while, and there will be Tapas and everything. sigh, double sigh.
I know I'm moving to the country they live in but dammitt.

I found this slighty less crapola countdown clock. What the Carribean and sea shells have to do with a inland town at 7000ft is something you will have to work out for yourselves.

As Amanda noticed I posted this on the 11th November not the 8th. I think my blog needs a Bex and a good lay down.

ONE BORING THING AND ONE EXCITING NOTE

Rob mentioned that having a 'recent comments' section would be cool for Cunning Plan, which I agreed with. He set up the Blogspot one which looked wrong, so we got the Haloscan one which ForBattle has. Though I must continue tweaking cause I just want the name not the comment to appear. Nothing is easy. Plus we removed all the past comments which makes the place look very sad and lonely. I might put them back in, if I can work out how to.

To more interesting things.
We booked our tickets on Saturday. I was thinking early Jan, ahhaha how naive was I. The earliest we could get was the 15th January with Air China. We have two days in Taipei to check the sights, then LA to Flagstaff on the 17th. It was crazy, there was nothing unless you wanted business class or pay $2700 with Qantas, and thats a for a one way ticket!
For both tickets and insurance it came to about $2800. Which is not bad.

An extra week or so in the sun isn't that terrible.

I spent ages trying to find a cool looking countdown timer thingy. Something maybe with flames or sparkles. Nuthin'. LAMEO. Its a sad dissappointment when the interwed fails to live up to its true potential.

WELL SHE LASTED TWO NIGHTS BEFORE ESCAPING.

From cage onto balcony ledge

Down roof into gutter, down drain pipe.
Only noticed because Hebe was going ape crazy bonkers around the pipe and scrambling was heard.

Rob and his mad tracking skillz dug her out of the storm water drain, several hours later.

Unrepentant, dirty padded weasel....

NFI on how she managed it.
